Vivifying Minimalism: A Contemporary Space for Customized Therapies

Creating a Dynamic Environment that Balances Science and Warmth

The company Vivify and Lab combines advanced technology with classic spa treatments to offer customized therapies. Designer Helen Brasinika envisioned a space that emits the austerity of scientific labs while adding familiar connotations of warm classic interiors.

Located in Athens, the Vivifying Minimalism spa and wellness center is a groundbreaking design that seamlessly blends innovation and tradition. With a total area of 550 square meters spread over three floors, this contemporary space offers a unique experience for its clients.

The ground reception area, inspired by zen philosophy and the dyadic nature of the cosmos, combines white lava plaster with chocolate brown from the classic color palette. This juxtaposition represents the contrast between clinical white and scientific reason, and the tasteful connotations of human desires.

The upper level of the center is dedicated to technologically supported treatments and aims to provide a spacious and private atmosphere. The design incorporates the warmth of classic wood paneling in chocolate brown, complemented by a delicious color palette in biscuit brown, pastry white, and Chantilly. Metallic accents in gold and copper enhance the luxurious ambiance, while linear lighting in the hallways assists with wayfinding, reminiscent of medical labs.

The basement of the center houses the sauna, steam rooms, and changing lockers. It also features a central spot for nail and limb treatments. The journey is completed with private rooms lit with fiber optics and the natural-toned ambiance of traditional spa interiors.

The design of Vivifying Minimalism was not without its challenges. The space extending over three floors presented the challenge of creating a groundbreaking design for the reception area that attracts attention. Additionally, the upper floor, with its private rooms, traffic corridors, and offices, needed to maintain the brand's identity while ensuring ergonomic and practical assets of contemporary office interiors.

Extensive research was conducted on wellness and spa facilities worldwide to inform the design. The aim was to provide a tailor-made brand identity that is groundbreaking without losing the ambiance of a wellness and spa facility. The result is a space that combines cutting-edge technology with the soothing atmosphere of a traditional spa.

The Vivifying Minimalism spa and wellness center, designed by Helen Brasinika and her team, was commissioned in May 2013 and delivered in mid-September 2013. The design has received recognition and acclaim, winning the Silver A' Design Award in 2014 for Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design. This award recognizes the outstanding expertise, innovation, and artistic skill demonstrated in the design, which introduces positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
